The best thing about live blackjack is that it is a game of skill.
The second-best thing about blackjack is that the skill is easy to learn, but most players just can’t be bothered.
If you are prepared to put a little time aside to learn some basic blackjack strategies, you will find yourself in the small minority of blackjack players who play the game with the odds in their favour.
Many of the best online blackjack strategies are pretty straightforward but they make such a big difference when implemented. You can try out these strategies in any of the live blackjack casinos.
OK, with that in mind, let’s take a look at 6 of the best live blackjack strategies.
Learn the perfect blackjack strategy
You knew I was going to put this one first, didn’t you?
I can’t speak highly enough of this strategy and the great thing is, you don’t even have to learn it, just print it out and refer to it whilst you are playing live blackjack online. You can learn how to play blackjack with our guide for blackjack beginners.
The RTP when using the basic blackjack strategy varies depending on which type of blackjack games you are playing but when you take into consideration that the figure is usually over 99%, it stands to reason that this must be the number 1 blackjack strategy.
To prove a point, next time you are playing a game of live dealer blackjack, keep a close eye on the way some of the other players around your table are playing the game.
You will see people playing for large sums of money and hitting on 18, please believe me when I say these are not isolated examples, you see shocking bets like this all the time.
Set up a betting bank
This obviously doesn’t apply if you are a recreational blackjack player and just enjoy playing the game now and again but if you want to take your blackjack playing seriously, treat it as a business.
What I mean by this is to set aside a sum of money for blackjack playing purposes only.
Then, divide this amount up and this figure will be the amount of money you are prepared to lose in a blackjack playing session.
As an example, say you have put £500 to one side, use a figure of 5% and this will be your loss limit for the day.
This equates to £25 but the figure is recalculated before each blackjack session.
If you won £100, your new balance would be £600 so the loss limit for the day would be £30 and the great thing about using this strategy is that your loss limit is always 5% of the bank.
Make a target of withdrawing money from the bank when you reach a certain figure, £1000 for example.
Use the sweeper system
You will have heard me talk about this before and I make no apologies for that because this is a brilliant way of increasing your winnings, especially when couples with the loss limit which we have just spoken about.
The way it works it that when you have two winning games in a row, double the stake which you are using.
So, if you are using £5 stakes, 2 winning hands, increase the stake to £10.
When you lose a game, go back to the original stake, in this case £5.
The reason this strategy is so effective is because it takes advantage of a winning run and is cautious during a losing run.
Keep a clear head
So many online casino players associate playing live casino games with relaxing and what do a lot of people do when they are relaxing, they enjoy an alcoholic drink.
Whilst there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, especially if you are playing a slot or something like that but if you are playing blackjack with the aim on winning, it is important that you have your wits about you so wait until you have finished the game to enjoy a drink.
Choose a decent online casino
It goes without saying that you want to be playing at a reputable online casino.
I won’t list the reasons why because we have spoken about this many times before so the best advice I can give is to simply choose a casino from this list:
Don’t assume all blackjack variants are the same
Don’t just start playing blackjack without checking which variant of the game you are playing, especially when playing on a new casino account.
Different variants of blackjack have different rules, so it is easy to just click on the first blackjack game which you see and not realise that the rules are slightly different.
Whilst this might not be a strategy in itself, it is an important factor which is sometimes missed by players who are eager to just start playing.
